Mexico boasts in popularity of being home of the avocado, the party favourite - tequila, and the beautiful mayan ruins. While Mexico is widespread and there are many things to see and do, with a busy-on-the-go lifestyle, it is sometimes much needed to book an all-inclusive resort and not have a care in the world.
With endless amount of options stretching from Playa Mujeres to Cancun, Riviera Maya and Tulum, it can get overwhelming in deciding where to stay. As some have a list of expectations and criteria's, the top trends always seems to be the same: budget, room and amenities (room, pools, "can I get a good insta shot?"), food, and overall resort experience.
Haven Riviera Cancun checked all the boxes and then some. This all-inclusive brand new adult-only, all-suite resort is a Caribbean dream. Located a quick 15 minute car ride from the Cancun airport, the resorts surprisingly sanctuary seclusion will make you feel like you're in the jungle, while simultaneously touching the sea, leaving you rejuvenated and inspired.
Rooms and Amenities
Ocean front views can be seen from majority of the rooms in the lagoon style building. With so many beach chairs and palapa styled beds surrounding the pools, you are promised to find the perfect tanning spot and indulge in relaxation. The resort is overall smaller and cozy, offering just over 300 units in total. This to me is a perfect size to feel large enough that you get some good steps in through the day, but small enough that it becomes intimate and personable.
The rooms are modern Mexican contemporary, washed with warm inviting colours that match the lifestyle of resort living. Start your morning off by ordering breakfast in bed and making fresh Nespresso coffee (ummm need I say more)? The rooms boast all the electronic gimmicks, from in room bluetooth surround sound to an electronic doorbell and “do not disturb” button, Haven has thought of it all. One of my favourite features was the private whirlpool tub on the balcony, allowing you to embrace the Caribbean air, while enjoying a relaxing bubble bath after a long day of doing nothing. I also love when a hotel has plush robes and slippers...jackpot! Oh, lest I forget to mention the rain shower in the massive washroom, including a dual sink + vanity mirror for the ladies.
If you opt to spend a little more, the Serenity Club is available for those looking for beachfront accommodations and even *more* VIP amenities and services.
Food
Let me paint this picture for you. Beachside views...blue skies...suns out, and the guac is so fresh you watch the Haven staff bring it out because it's so good they just keep replenishing. With a fresh pasta and a personalized taco station, this haven lunch spot "Vora Mar" is everything you can ask for. Whatever your fix is; chicken, steak or chorizo, the taco bar makes fresh made goodness with all the fixings. Hungry, but don't want to disturb your siesta? Find yourself in a palapa at the lagoon pool and order poolside snacks directly to your haven.
Haven raves about being top notch in gastronomy and cocktails, and their offerings fall nothing short of their claims. With five a la carte restaurant dining options, you'll find exactly what you are craving, leaving you drooling weeks after vacation. Mexican, Steak, Asian Fusion, Seafood, and my personal favourite, Mediterranean "Olios", this 5 star resort has a diverse spectrum of choices that will leave you happy and your bellies full.
Outside of mouth watering food, Haven gets a round of applause for their cocktails - whether you are poolside or enjoying a fancy bevy at limes, you are sure to be surprised with fresh flavours and top notch service.
Overall Resort Experience
The moment you pull up to Haven, your breath is literally taken away. From the warm welcome and pristine attention to details to serve your needs, you are instantly in love with the resort. This vacation was a special occasion in celebrating a birthday milestone, and the concierge was superb in helping make birthday dreams come true.
Every spot in and around the pool and beach was perfect, being able to find a spot with no stress - exactly how you would expect your vacation to be! From unlimited towel usage to excellent service no matter where you were - no ask was too big. The beach was small, but perfectly clean for the Mexican coast. We were so pleased with our experience at Haven, we are dreaming to come back.
Whether you are going for a special occasion, for personal leisure, or any other amazing spontaneous reason to escape to a beachside hideaway, the haven crosses off all the boxes.
